19 July 2021 Shelly Bay Road intersection overnight closures

The Shelly Bay Road intersection will be closed overnight to vehicle traffic for up to five nights from Monday 26 July while we put in a new raised crossing for pedestrians and bikes, and replace the stormwater pipes and sumps.
Closure times - 7pm to 6am, Monday 26 July to Friday 30 July.
Residents and businesses on Shelly Bay Road will still be able to drive to and from their properties by taking the longer route around Massey Road and over Awa Road or through Seatoun Tunnel.
People on foot or on bikes will still be able to use the intersection (people on bikes will have to dismount) but should take extra care.

3 May 2021 Construction underway More Less

Construction of new walking and biking paths and crossings on this section of Miramar Avenue, to Z Energy, starts this week. Contractors will start in the cutting just past Shelly Bay Road and will be working east in sections towards Z Energy.

Most of the activity will be happening adjacent to the road, rather than on the road. Traffic management will be in place but the road is wide so there will be space for traffic to travel both ways. Most of the time, the speed limit is expected to remain at 50km/h however a temporary 30km/h speed limit will be in place around the work zone when required.

The work is expected to be completed in early February 2022.

23 November 2017 Miramar Avenue phase 1 proposals approved by Councillors More Less

Councillors on the City Strategy Committee approved the proposals for phase 1 of Miramar Avenue.

The behind-the-scenes work - which includes detailed design, preparing construction drawings, and teeing up contractors who are in high demand - all takes time. We expect construction to start in early 2021.

Miramar Avenue phase 2

We will continue to discuss and progress this with Enterprise Miramar Peninsula and the community, but the project is unlikely to proceed in the next few years. If and when funding becomes available, there will be another opportunity to provide feedback before Councillors make any decisions.
