Wellington is a growing city. With growth comes congestion and the greater need to provide real transport choices. We know the best results come from working closely with the community.
Over the next twenty years, we’re building a more resilient transport network for our city, to make sure everybody can get from A to B easily through their chosen transport method - whether by car, bus, foot, or bike.
The transport improvements we make will go alongside the work of Let's Get Wellington Moving.
Wellington City Council and the New Zealand Transport Agency have been working together to deliver a practical and achievable cycling programme for Wellington.
This was in response to the Transport Agency-commissioned independent review of the Council’s cycleways programme by consultants Morrison Low.
The revised cycling programme was unanimously approved by Councillors at a Transport and Urban Development Committee meeting on 11 August 2016.
